We’re delighted to share that two members of the Curam Care Homes family are finalists in the 2025 Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI) Care Awards — a national event that celebrates outstanding care and kindness in nursing homes across Ireland.

Sinead Meegan, Activities Co-ordinator at Oakfield Nursing Home, has been shortlisted in the Care Awards category, while May O’Reilly, a resident at Curam Care Home Navan Road, is a finalist for the Resident Achievement Award.

These nominations highlight the heart of what Curam Care Homes stands for — community, creativity, and care that goes beyond the ordinary to give the best quality of care and quality of life for our residents.

Meet Our Finalists

A cherished member of the Oakfield team for the past four years, Sinead Meegan brings warmth, joy, and boundless enthusiasm to everything she does, and has a genuine love of creating new happy memories for her residents.

Sinead was inspired to pursue a career in care after supporting loved ones through illness.

“I had a family member in a hospice and another in a nursing home, and I saw the love, care and compassion shown to them by strangers — that stayed with me,” she said.

Since joining Curam, Sinead has transformed daily life in Oakfield with creative, engaging activities that bring residents together and lift spirits. From organising the much-loved Oakfield Fleadh Cheoil to leading an award-winning intergenerational arts project with Rachel Uí Fhaoláin — which won an Arts in Nursing Homes award and was even featured on RTÉ Radio 1’s Drivetime — her passion for creating the best possible experiences for residents shines through.

Her nomination for the 2025 NHI Care Award is a well-deserved recognition of her dedication, compassion, and creativity.

A proud Cabra native, May O’Reilly has been shortlisted for the Resident Achievement Award, which celebrates residents who make an outstanding contribution to life within their nursing home communities.

Born and raised on the Navan Road, May has always had a strong sense of community — a value she continues to share every day at Curam Care Home Navan Road.  She describes her decision to move there as the best one for her, and says she’s grateful to be part of such a warm and welcoming home.

May plays a key role in the daily life of the home. She chairs the residents’ meetings, ensuring that every voice is heard, and she fills the home with creativity through her beautiful handmade artwork, memory pictures, and themed displays. Her designs bring colour, personality, and joy to the community she loves.

Her nomination reflects her incredible energy, generosity, and the positive influence she has on those around her.

Celebrating Excellence and Community at Curam Care Homes

We are immensely proud of Sinead and May for representing the very best of our values.

Their achievements remind us that exceptional care isn’t just about professional excellence — it’s about people who bring heart and humanity to everything they do.

At Curam Care Homes, we believe that our homes are more than just places to live — they are vibrant communities where residents, staff, and families come together to create a true sense of belonging.

Residents like May remind us that community spirit is at the heart of everything we do. Through their creativity, leadership, and care for others, they help shape homes where every resident feels valued, connected, and supported.

Our teams work hand-in-hand with residents to make each Curam home a warm, welcoming, and meaningful place to live — where life is celebrated every day.

We’ll be cheering Sinead and May on at the 2025 Nursing Homes Ireland Care Awards later this year — and celebrating the difference they make every single day.

Congratulations, Sinead and May!
