This year Oakfield Nursing Home is proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone—20 years of care, compassion, and community.
Since welcoming it’s first residents in 2005, Oakfield has been more than just a place of care. Over two decades it has become a place where residents, families, staff, and the wider community of North Wexford have come together, creating a warm and welcoming home built on respect, dignity, and connection.
On Friday 22nd August, Oakfield marked the occasion with an anniversary celebration. The afternoon was filled with fun, laughter, and entertainment, honouring the residents, families and staff members who have made Oakfield what it is today.

Food and Festivities
Entertainment included Alvin as MC and music from Frank. There was plenty of laughs with Comedy by Rueben, magical illusions from Conor (who is also the grandson of one of our residents), and plenty of family fun with Giggles the clown. A highlight of the day was a unique owl display from Colin Travers, which captivated visitors of all ages.
No celebration would be complete without delicious refreshments, and the catering team at Oakfield pulled out all the stops to make it a great event. Attendees tucked into BBQ favourites, sweet treats from a popcorn cart, candyfloss, and even fresh donuts from a van. Residents and guests also enjoyed fun games and a free raffle, with fantastic prizes generously donated by local friends and suppliers. A lively performance from Gorey Pipe Band brought the celebrations to a close in style.

Honoring 20 Years of Care and Dedication
A very special part of the celebrations was honouring seven staff members who have been with Oakfield Nursing Home since it first opened 20 years ago. Their loyalty, kindness, and dedication have helped make Oakfield the trusted and caring home it is today. Residents, families, and colleagues all joined in giving them a warm and well-deserved round of applause.

Community
The 20th Anniversary wasn’t just about celebration—it was a reflection of the deep roots that Oakfield has in the local community.
Community spirit was truly alive with the presence of the Blood Bikes South East, who the home proudly supports each year through fundraising efforts, and Garda O’Sullivan, who is the new Community Garda in the area.

Here’s to the next 20 Years
To wrap up the 20th anniversary celebrations, residents and staff created a special time capsule filled with notes and memories of life in the home. The capsule was buried in the garden, where it will stay safely sealed until it’s opened again to celebrate the 30th anniversary in 2035. As Oakfield Nursing Home looks ahead to the future, its promise remains the same: to provide quality of care and quality of life for residents.
